With a brewery on site and real ale supplied by local brewers, you’ll never be short of a pint or two to tempt you.
The Lowes arms offers the warmest of welcomes, delicious food, facilities for hire and special events throughout the year, but we know that the key to being a great pub ultimately lies in offering a great selection of beer, and our real ales do exactly that.
Our commitment to providing the best that beer has to offer is underlined by the presence, on site, of the Westwood micro-brewery, producing a selection of ales which combine New World innovation with the best of traditional British brewing. As well as one off special seasonal beers, Westwood produces the following:
Hoff – 4.3% abv. Brewed with Perle and Hercules hops. Spicy and robust, with flavours of freshly ground coffee and a sweet, creamy head.
Alpha – 4.5% abv. Brewed with cascade and galena hops. A slightly fruity and sweet beer, brewed in the pale ale style with a hoppy finish
Pilgrim – 3.8% abv. An easy drinking golden session beer with notes of hops on the finish
As well as our own ales we offer an ever changing roster of beers brewed by small-scale local breweries across the North West. Regular suppliers include Crossbay brewery of Morecambe, Cryptic Ales of Stockport, Green Mill Brewery from Ramsbottom, Torrside from New Mills in Derbyshire and Prospect Brewery in Bury. What they all have in common is a commitment to brewing the very best in real ales, and in supplying to pubs, such as the Lowes Arms, who know just how such fantastic beers should be kept, served and enjoyed.

A blend of caramel and chocolate malt creates a malty base with subtle caramel and coffee tones. German Herkules and Perle hope give a robust and flavoursome kick and a strong smooth hop finish.
I am Pilgrim
A blend of pale malts and caramel gives this beer a pale golden colour and malty finish. Pilgrim and cascade hops provide the backbone and lead to a smooth citrusy finish with a developing bitterness. A satisfying session beer with good flavour and a drink-me-faster quality.
Caramel and pale malts leave this beer light in colour with full bodied palate. This flavour is from good use of Galena and Summit hops with a big Cascade finish. The result is slightly sweet, stone fruit flavours and blackberry hints with a bitter citrus undertone and smooth finish. Big alpha hops with big flavours.
